![]() THIS is why it's important to know what your CYA level is. If it isn't, you'll still show chlorine on a test, but it won't be able to do it's job. This level has to be higher than the stabilizer level. ![]() Good luck and let us know what you decide on!Įdit: Think of it this way- the free chlorine is what's available in the water to fight the nasty stuff. Even with all that, I was able to turn the pool around fairly quickly a few weeks ago using mostly liquid bleach with just a little stabilizer toward the end. It turned green because I wasn't able to keep up with it at the end of last year, I didn't close properly or cover the pool. NAVA also did a good job of sanitation, but the tabs did not last as long. The actual chlorine tabs lasted longer and gave me the chlorine levels needed in my 35,000 gallon pool. The NAVA wrapper was thin and just adequate enough. Swim still needs to be convinced, show her my "swamp to sparkle" thread. The individually wrapped chlorine tabs of this product came in a heavier individual wrapper. ![]() I'm sure you've read this before, but read pool school, get a GOOD test kit, and you'll be on your way. Once I started practicing what I read, it all fell into place. Once I found this site, it started to make sense. THIS is what I didn't know, and the pool store wouldn't or couldn't tell me. Eventually the stabilizer level gets so high that it's impractical/impossible to maintain, and you will then end up with an algae bloom, even though you have a high chlorine reading. The higher the level of stabilizer, the more chlorine your water needs to stay clean. As more pucks/tabs/bags are used, more stabilizer is added. The chlorine is consumed/used and the level drops, but the stabilizer level does not. 9 parts stabilizer for every 1 part chlorine. Using "dry" forms of chlorine always adds stabilizer to your water. While you do need some stabilizer in the water, too much is a bad thing. Tabs, pucks, and granules all contain stabilizer. It is important that you first let the previous chlorine tablets dissolve completely before adding new chlorine tablets. They both have their place, but the answer is usually liquid. You can add one of these per 3 m³ of water. For a small inflatable pool, it is best to use these 20 gram mini-chlorine tablets. Once the chlorine tablet has dissolved, it is best to add 1 chlorine tablet per skimmer. If the pH value is good, check whether the chlorine tablet has completely dissolved or not. If the pool is used more than 2 days a week, the water quality needs to be checked 2 to 3 times a week. If the swimming pool isn’t used much, be sure to check the water quality once a week using a water tester. The more swimming there is, the quicker the chlorine degrades Leaves, insects and other dirt cause the active chlorine to become exhausted
